The live music line up begins at 6:30pm, featuring performances by Hilltop Community Church Choir and Oaktown Jazz Workshops. At 8 p.m. the Oakland East Bay Symphony, www.oebs.org, conducted by Music Director Michael Morgan, will begin its set of patriotic, spirited works to celebrate America’s Independence Day. The City of Richmond’s Firework Display will launch over the water just as the Symphony closes its program. A special feature of the program will be the OEBS debut of pianist Chloe Ma, Junior Division Winner of last year’s OEBS Young Artist Competition, performing the first movement of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2. The evening will be hosted by KDFC Radio’s Dianne Nicolini.
The wharf area and parking (general and premium available) open at 5:00 p.m., and the Craneway Pavilion will open at 6:30 p.m. Seating is limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis. Guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs.
The Craneway will offer an Independence Day themed concession menu. The adjacent restaurant, The BoilerHouse, will feature full-menu dining beginning at 5pm and remain open prior to and during the July 3rd event. Reservations are highly recommended. Beer, wine and additional beverages will be available. No outside liquor will be permitted.
This free Independence Day celebration is made possible by the generous support of Target with additional support from Chevron, The City of Richmond and media sponsors KDFC and Oakland Magazine.
