Orton Development, Inc. and Ford Point are proud to announce the availability of a 45,000-square foot, waterfront meeting and entertainment venue on the San Francisco Bay. The Craneway Pavilion, a multi-purpose facility that can house meetings, banquets, exhibitions and other events, sits on a platform on the Bay and offers spectacular views of San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, Brooks Island, the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge. The Craneway Pavilion is located at Ford Point, a sensational landmark building, and has been designed to accommodate up to 5,000 people. Ford Point is located at 1414 Harbour Way South in Richmond, in the center of two of the City's thriving communities: Historic Point Richmond and Marina Bay. The Ford Building represents a seminal part of Richmond's history - during WWII, the facility, which had previously focused on car assembly, switched gears and began assembling military jeeps and putting the finishing touches on tanks, half-tracked armored personnel carriers, armored cars and other military vehicles. At the time, the Ford Building was commonly referred to as the Richmond Tank Depot. The City of Richmond embodied two central demographic trends that enveloped America in the 20th century: the migration of African Americans to the inner city and the influx of women into the workplace. The plant has been largely or entirely vacant since 1955 and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. Orton Development has commenced the redevelopment of Ford Point and plans to utilize the existing space and light, while introducing modern day technology - such as communications and building controls - to produce an inviting, 21st century, mixed-use community and a destination location allowing for public enjoyment. Orton Development envisions an organic, market-driven development that will include: office, light industrial, manufacturing and retail space; restaurants; and night life. The site also features Bay Trail public access. The former craneway, reincarnated as The Craneway Pavilion, is the centerpiece of this redevelopment. The Pavilion leverages the unique architectural details of an imposing, 400 feet by 100 feet, and 65-foot high craneway at the former Ford Motor Company assembly plant, the largest such plant on the West Coast. The Pavilion, surrounded on three sides by a shoreline esplanade, represents a pristine - and the West's only - example of the work of Albert Kahn, the renowned 20th century architect. Mr. Kahn, known for his "daylight factory" design, employed extensive windows and skylights - to provide a humane yet productive work environment - that became his trademark. The magnitude of the space, the purity of the California light and the interplay of indoor and outdoor space are simply awe-inspiring. The Craneway Pavilion's amenities include: A state-of-the-art sound and acoustic system 3- phase, 800A, 480V Divisible space - into areas as small as 15,000 square feet 1,500 parking spaces Bus parking The Craneway Pavilion offers a perfect Bay Area destination for gatherings of all occasions. The spacious and open design make this the ideal setting for a wedding, bar/bat mitzvah, holiday party, corporate meeting, concert or speaking engagement. The picturesque setting provides the perfect ambience for a rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, post-wedding brunch and other celebrations. Craneway Pavilion Brochure (PDF) |
